What to do in case of an Earthquake
While many of us here in Lincoln County have never experienced a strong earthquake, that does not mean it won’t happen here. It pays to be prepared for all types of emergencies, including earthquake.
The whole purpose of Emergency Preparedness to to be prepared for an emergency before it happens so that you will know what to do and have emergency supplies at hand.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency website contains good information on a variety of earthquake topics. These topics include maps to track earthquakes; publications and posters to educate yourself and others about earthquakes; and how to protect lives and property before, during, and after and earthquake.
Do you know what to do and who to contact during and after an earthquake? It is likely that you will lose access to things we take for granted – like phones, internet, access to your home, being able to drive for help, access to food and clean water.
