Assistance is available to all who need it, regardless of age. To qualify for financial assistance your household income cannot exceed 125% of the Government Poverty Level. These guidelines are provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and depend on the number of persons in the household. In order to obtain assistance a form must be completed that documents income for the person requesting assistance. The form must be signed and this signature serves as a certification that the information is true and accurate. The application must be filled out completely. This form is available here as a pdf document that can be printed and completed. Once completed it needs to be sent to the Human Services office, P.O. Box 508, Panaca, Nevada, 89042. It can also be brought to the office located at 1005 Main St., Suite 104 in Panaca, Nevada.
Transportation assistance is provided by the Lincoln County Bus, which runs Monday through Thursday and one Friday per month to Utah.
There is a mobile food pantry that provides free food once a month. This service is available to anyone who needs it. Signs are posted around the community to alert local citizens when the mobile pantry will be in town. The mobile pantry food is distributed in the west parking lot of the Caliente Railroad Depot building.
Emergency food assistance is available any time by contacting the Human Services office at 775-962-8084.
Commodities is a another free food service available to those that need it. This service is offered every month – January through December, the third Thursday and Friday, of the month. Signs are posted around the community to alert local citizens when commodities will be distributed. Commodity food distribution will be at the following locations.
